To pay or not to pay - that is the question

Wow, what a debate we had yesterday morning! I guess Gov. Patick wants pre-school to become universal in Mass which means finding an extra $600 mil to pay for it. I'm for it, but Chris is worried about the cost coming back on Joe Public. A lot of you called to support the program, and some of you were against it, but one thing can be said - you were all passionate about your feelings! Feel free to comment here if you like.

Today was lighter. I shared my funny kid story about how my niece, Lilliana, and my daughter, Morgan, took green markers to each other one day. When my sister (who was supervising them that day - not my fault) came into the room and asked what happened, Lilliana, who was almost four at the time (Morgan was just about two), said she and Morgan wanted to be monsters like in Monsters Inc. But when my sister scolded her for writing on herself, she denied it. Ultimately, it came out like this. Lil - "I didn't color myself." Sis - "Then what happened?" Lil - "I colered herself and she colored myself." Ah-ha! That kid is gonna make a great defense lawyer someday! Got any funny kid stories you wanna share? I always love a good laugh!!!

By the way, do you say pointesettIA or pointsettA? Just wondering.....

The Proper Place is Down

Hey everybody! Today we talked about a kid who invented a toilet seat that automatically goes up and down before and after the guy uses it. Genius! Chris debated that maybe women should put it down rather than the men put it down, but here's the thing. When you see a toilet on display in a store, is the seat up? Does it look better up with all the nastiness underneath showing? Do men only use the seat in the up position? No, no, and definitely no. There you have it. And what it boils down to is this - we're the queens of the household so what we say goes! Now, I have to go and buy some bubble wrap for my children. They have pictures this week, and you know what always happens - someone gets injured right before. In the meantime, if they do get hurt, I can always use the bubble wrap to carefully pack them and ship them to Zimbabwe.

Caffeinate Me....

I hate rainy days. They make me soooo sleepy...... I think I need some caffeine because I keep falling asleep at the mic. You know you're falling asleep when you start to have those half dreams - you know what I'm talking about. But I'm not a caffeine person. When I have it, I go a mile a minute, and it's all good, until.... I crash! I'm like a kid at the carnival coming off of the cotton candy/ice cream/candy apple high. I just wanna take a nap - waaaaahhhhhh! Not that I'm complaining, okay I am, but I need some energy for when I go to my second job - raising my kids. You know, they seem to have that much more energy when they know they can't go outside. I don't think I'm ready for couch diving and table cartwheels today! Goodnight everyone!

I Don't Need Your Permission!

Hey there! We were chatting this morning about whether or not you need your spouse or sig. other's permission to cut your hair, and boy did we disagree. I say it's your hair on your body so you should do what you want with it. I mean, it's okay to ask your other's advice or input, but to specifically get permission is not neccessary! I think Chris started to see this, as his stance went from "permission" to "consult" to "make aware." See, there is a courtesy in making your other aware, making them feel included in your decision, and setting them up to be prepared if there's a big change involved. But ultimately, if you ask, and your spouse/other says no, then what do you do? You cater to them? Let them control you? Give up on your dream? I know that sounds dramatic, but that's what it seems like to me. If someone is that adament about you not changing your look, then that either makes them a control freak or superficial. Beauty lies within. If they can't love you for that, then it's time to move on. If my man wanted to go bald, I would hate it, but if that's what makes him happy, then I would just deal with it. Ultimately, I think it's a guy thing - they like ladies with long hair. Most of the ladies this morning agreed with me, but there were some folks who said marriage (or partnership) means making decisions together. But to me, two as one doesn't mean losing your individuality, right? Whew, this is getting too intense for me! Let's move on to more important things, like...

I cooked a turkey by myself this weekend! Okay, so it wasn't a full-boned gut-filled turkey, but it was a 5 1/2 lb. breast that I still had no idea how to cook. I asked my mother-in-law, and after she laughed for a few seconds, she stopped and said, "Oh, you're serious." So she told me, and after I figured out how to dump the meat into a pan without touching it (I DO NOT touch raw meat - ewwwwww), I popped it in the oven and let it do it's thing. I then forgot about it, but only by about 20 minutes longer than it should have cooked. But it's not burnt! It's not stuck to the bottom of the pan! It's not dry on the outside and raw on the inside. So for me, that's a success! Yay me! We're eating like kings! Or maybe jesters....

It's going to be a great day as I'm basting, I mean basking, in the glory over my victory in the kitchen. I hope you have a lovely day as well!

I Think I'm Gonna Be Sick

I never thought I would say this but - no more candy! I think the sugar has replaced the blood cells in my body. My strands of hair are turning into cotton candy. I don't think I should have eaten that 14th Butterfinger. I probably should've stopped after the eighth pack of M&M's. Now I know how Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears feel. You know, I say all this now, but tonight I'll be getting my fix with a Kit Kat or a Crunch bar. Hey, it could be worse - I could be shoe shopping instead. Candy is a lot less expensive (after Halloween sales!). Of course, I will have to invest in some elastic waist pants, if I keep going at this rate.
